Service Description

When a child is struggling, it’s rarely because they “can’t do the work.” More often, it’s because the skills underneath learning; planning, organisation, flexible thinking, working memory, sustained attention, self‑monitoring, simply haven’t been supported in the unqiue, individual way their brain needs. These are the core executive function skills, and without them, academic tutoring alone can feel like pouring water into a bucket full of holes. My Life Projects is designed to strengthen those skills first, so learning can finally stick. With a functional skills tutor, children work through a structured, interest‑led project that teaches them how to plan, prepare, organise, problem‑solve, adapt, and reflect all whilst exploring areas of interest, which massively boosts motivation to learn. The early stages of the process, Choose, Define, and Plan, are intentionally detailed and repeated across multiple projects. This repetition is what embeds long‑term habits: the child begins to internalise the steps, think ahead, manage tasks, and build genuine independence. When executive function skills are supported to grow, confidence grows, your child's emotional regulation improves, and their academic learning becomes easier, lighter, and far less stressful for everyone at home. How Sessions Work: Sessions run in 6-week blocks, with one session per week minimum. Each session is £15 (£90 per block), invoiced at the time of booking. For first-time bookings, there is an introductory rate of £45 for the first block. This block structure gives children the consistency and repetition their brain needs to truly embed executive function skills, not just understand them once, but use them automatically in everyday learning. It is recommended that a minimum of 3 blocks be completed to really see results. Who This Is For... Parents who recognise any of the following: “My child is bright, but they can’t get started.” “They forget instructions, lose track, or get overwhelmed.” “Tutoring helps for a week… then we’re back to square one.” “They want to do well, but they don’t know how to organise themselves.” If this sounds familiar, your child doesn’t need more worksheets; they need the skills that make learning possible. Functional Skills Tutoring gives them those skills, step by step, gently, and with the structure their brain can thrive on. Have more questions? Email me at Nurturedtogether@gmail.com before booking.
